CEU Course Description

In this course, therapists will learn about the ins and outs of telehealth within occupational therapy. This includes but is not limited to regulations, licensure requirements, documentation, and reimbursement. This also includes clinical considerations such as how to tailor sessions for individuals with low attention or limited resources as well as equipment needed and evidence for the use of telehealth in each major practice area. This course will give occupational therapists a comprehensive view of the clinical and non-clinical considerations related to telehealth to make them more prepared before entering this emerging practice area.

  1. Define telehealth OT and what evidence exists for this practice area.
  2. Compare and contrast the populations and contexts where telehealth OT can be used.
  3. Recognize the considerations that substantially impact care delivery in each setting.
  4. Given considerations such as cognitive impairments and lack of environmental support, identify ways to implement quality care in light of considerations.
